Carlsbad-based Westliving announced it will spend $7 million to renovate Oakdale of La Mesa, a 180-unit assisted living and memory care facility it bought last year at 5740 Lake Murray Blvd.
The renovation at Oakdale, which opened as a hotel when it was built in 1978, will be overseen by newly appointed General Manager Joey Collado, a five-year employee who formerly worked as an executive at Hilton.
Work is to begin on the lobby and swimming pool before moving to a new dining room, kitchen and other areas, including residents’ rooms.
Westliving, founded in 2009, owns and manages nine senior living communities in California, Arizona and Washington.
