Wachovia Securities’ Extensive Remodeling Project Gets Under Way



Progress Report

Wachovia Securities is in the process of making tenant improvements for its location at 888 Prospect St. in La Jolla. A national design firm, Ware Malcomb, has completed the interior design for the tenant improvements. The general contractor on the project is Burger Construction of Solana Beach.

The renovated 12,000-square-foot office space will feature a remodeled lobby, new flooring and glass-enclosed offices. Construction is set to begin in September and finish by January.

A Healthy Contract:

Scripps Health has given San Diego-based Reno Contracting Inc. a $20 million contract to construct tenant improvements at the Scripps Clinic Rancho Bernardo site.

The clinic will be 146,000 square feet and feature an ambulatory surgery center, a digitalized radiology department and a women’s imaging center. This six-story facility will be replacing the Rancho Bernardo clinic across the street at 15025 Innovation Drive to expand on its size and upgrade technology. The center is planned to open in October 2008.

In other developments, Scripps Health has awarded a $26 million design contract for its 313,000-square-foot cardiovascular center project to the Los Angeles office of HOK. The $434 million cardiovascular institute will be a center for advanced treatment and research, combining the capacities of the various Scripps locations. The building will not begin construction until 2012 and is in the design phase.

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. received a $10 million contract to be the construction manager for the institute. The building is scheduled to open in 2015.

Jacobs Engineering also was awarded $7 million to complete the seismic retrofitting for Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. All hospitals must be retrofitted by 2013 to comply with state seismic safety standards.

School Upgrades:

Twin Peaks Middle School has completed its modernization under the Poway Unified School District’s Building for Success program. The school had more than $17.3 million in renovations completed from November 2005 through this month. Classrooms were modernized, restroom facilities refurbished for accessibility, and tennis and basketball courts were renovated.

Tierra Bonita Middle School had $7.9 million in upgrades done under the same program. As part of the upgrades, library facilities were modernized, the upper-grade playground was improved, the student-service area was renovated and the heating and cooling systems were improved. Construction began in June 2006 and was completed in January.

The architectural firm NTDStichler designed the improvements for both schools.

The modernization and construction at both schools were overseen by PinnacleOne/Barn & #173;hart Inc.

Harley Store Renovated:

A tenant improvement project at Sweetwater Harley-Davidson’s new $5.5 million store has been completed. The store is located at 3201 Hoover Ave. in National City. The construction improvements were completed by Bartocci Development Inc.

Office Makeover To Start In November:

ID Studios Inc. has received a contract for the complete architectural and interior design services for the new office of Premier Inc. The 18,000-square-foot office will include videoconferencing capabilities, a large caf & #233;, conference rooms and offices.
