U.S. Women’s Soccer Team to Play China at Qualcomm Stadium

The U.S. Women’s national soccer team will play an exhibition match, or “friendly,” April 10 against longtime rivals from the People’s Republic of China at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium with kickoff at 8 p.m.

This is the first match at Qualcomm Stadium for the U.S. Women’s team, which defeated North Korea March 12 in the Algarve Cup in Portugal. The team played at the University of San Diego in 2010.

The San Diego game will be the 52nd time the two teams have faced each other, with the U.S. holding a 30-8-12 record advantage. Four days earlier the same teams will play a game in Commerce City, Colo.

Until the Algarve Cup tournament where it lost twice and won a game, the U.S. team was ranked No.1 in the world, while China was ranked 19th.

The U.S. Women came in second in the 2011 World Cup won by Japan, and are aiming for the 2015 World Cup held in Canada.
