The union pushing a statewide ballot measure to cap the pay of hospital executives has withdrawn the initiative, according to the Los Angeles Times.
An arbitrator ruled members of SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW) violated a 2014 agreement it had with the California Hospital Association. In that agreement, the union reportedly promised not to file any ballot initiative “adverse” to hospitals. The judge determined the campaign to limit pay at nonprofit hospitals to $450,000 violated that agreement.
The union also has withdrawn a similar measure aimed at capping the pay of executives at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside at $250,000.
