Oceanside’s Tri-City Medical Center is partnering with health-tech firm Aidin to ensure that patients stay healthy after going home.
New York-based Aidin specializes in managing post-acute care patients, helping hospitals reduce their readmission rates. The demand for such a service is increasing due to new government rules that reward providers for keeping patients healthy and out of the hospital, rather than rewarding hospitals for how many services they dish out. The new rules slap hospitals with penalties for high readmission rates.
Aidin’s patient engagement and workflow tools (along with embedded analytics) are aimed at improving the efficiency of hospital staff while lowering length of stay. The partnership with Aidin will also help Tri-City to comply with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ new rules on discharge planning.
Using Aidin, Tri-City will create a marketplace for post-acute care providers in Southern California who will compete for patient selection based on quality and satisfaction, according to a Tri-City news release.
