WHAT: Three-story, 21,000-square-foot commercial building will serve the 398-unit Villa Nueva Apartments community. The project is the largest residential development in the San Ysidro revitalization area.

INTERESTING FACETS: Resident and day care services, computer labs, social services offices, and Casa Familiar offices will all be housed in the new building. The architect’s design intentions include large-scale simplicity, dramatic accents, and a set of proportions characteristic of contemporary Mexican architecture. The project was completed in less than nine months.
FINANCING: San Diego Housing Commission, Centerline Capital Group and Freddie Mac.
