TaylorMade-adidas Golf of Carlsbad said Jan. 9 that it plans to reduce its work force by 70 employees. In a statement, TaylorMade called the action “a direct response to today’s uncertain global economic climate” and said the cuts will affect all areas of the operation.
TaylorMade-adidas would not disclose the size of its staff.
The company made news in November when it closed its acquisition of Carlsbad-based apparel-maker Ashworth for $26.5 million. TaylorMade-adidas took on $46 million in debt as part of that deal.
TaylorMade-adidas is a unit of the Germany-based adidas Group.
