Here’s another sign that a recovery could be under way.
According to the latest Manpower survey released Dec. 3, 18 percent of local employers said they plan to hire more employees in the first quarter of next year, while 7 percent said they would cut workers.
A year ago, the percentage of employers planning to expand was 14 while those employers planning to reduce payrolls made up 12 percent of those surveyed.
Most, or 72 percent, said they’re holding steady on their hiring, while 3 percent weren’t sure what they were doing, the latest Manpower survey found.
Nationally, the survey found that 14 percent of employers anticipate hiring more staff in the first quarter, while 10 percent are planning to reduce their payrolls. About 18,000 employers were surveyed.
