Discount carrier Southwest Airlines Co. plans an April 25 launch for new direct service between San Diego and Mexico’s San Jose del Cabo and Los Cabos.
A statement from Dallas-based Southwest said the nonstop services, subject to requisite government approvals, will make San Diego International Airport the carrier’s fourth California gateway city for international flights to Mexico. Scheduling and other information on the new local flights are at southwest.com.
The once-daily flights to Los Cabos International Airport will be the first direct flights offered by Southwest between San Diego and Mexico. The carrier currently has services in place to reach a total of 30 destinations from San Diego.
Earlier this month, Southwest announced that it was adding Boise, Idaho, and Salt Lake City, Utah, to its list of nonstop, year-round flight services offered out of San Diego International, starting June 4. The carrier will also offer local seasonal services from San Diego to Newark, N.J., Spokane, Wash., and Indianapolis.
