Sommetrics Names Corbet Lancaster Senior VP of Finance

A small medtech company in Vista, Sommetrics, has recruited Corbet “Cory” Lancaster to serve as the company’s new senior vice president of finance.

Lancaster has served in financial planning, analysis, and management positions both in-house and at consulting firms for the past two decades. He most recently worked as president of Lancaster Financial Management and Advisory, a consulting and financial services firm in La Jolla.

Earlier in his career, Lancaster worked as vice president of finance over the Americas for ResMed Inc., a large medical device company in San Diego. His background will make a good fit for Sommetrics, a competitor of ResMed’s.

Sommetrics, like ResMed, makes medical products to help people sleep better when dealing with disorders that narrow air passages during sleep, such as obstructive sleep apnea and chronic snoring. Sommetrics, founded in 2007, has a product that addresses airway narrowing caused by sedation.

The company recently raised $12.3 million in a second round of funding from individual investors. The company said in April that the money would be used to market its first approved airway management product, as well as obtaining regulatory approval for additional products.

Lancaster will participate in the company’s future capital raising efforts, according to a Sommetrics statement.

In addition to hiring Lancaster, Sommetrics has appointed Wally McCloskey to its board of directors. McCloskey is the president of Norac Inc., a specialty chemical manufacturer. According to Sommetrics, McCloskey has managed the turnaround, growth, and sale of several businesses, including a pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturer.
