Norman Roberts, 84, of La Jolla, has been appointed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to the San Diego River Conservancy Governing Board.
A Republican, Roberts is the president and owner of Morgan Roberts and Co., where he serves as a portfolio manager and investment adviser. He previously was chairman of the board of Mailboxes Etc., and Roberts, Scott and Co., and was a doctor of veterinary medicine.
Currently, he serves on the boards of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the San Elijo Lagoon Foundation and the Santa Margarita River Foundation.
He is the former chairman of Ducks Unlimited of San Diego and a former trustee of the Anza Borrego Foundation.
The position, which pays $100 per diem, doesn’t require Senate confirmation.
