San Diego Social Venture Partners, a local nonprofit giving organization, has issued a call to local nonprofits to apply for the third annual “Advance San Diego” event and compete for more than $75,000 in cash and services. Advance San Diego is modeled after the popular “fast-pitch” venture capital funding competitions like the TV show “Shark Tank.” SDSVP helps local nonprofit organizations define their impact, clearly articulate it and in turn raise funds as a result of the competition.
From the applications, 30 nonprofit finalists will be chosen to work with a SDSVP mentor. Finalists will present their fast-pitch to influential funders, philanthropists, businesses and community leaders in October.
SDSVP offers three competition segments: STEM; Military and their Families; and Youth and the Arts. Nonprofits serving these areas are encouraged to apply. There is no cost to participate in SDSVP’s Advance San Diego program. For information on San Diego Social Venture Partners and Advance San Diego 2014 please visit www.SDSVP.org.
