Pasha Inks Deal for Second Cargo Ship

The Pasha Group, the company that imports and exports vehicles with an office in National City, is building a second major cargo ship to handle increased traffic from Hawaii, the company said Feb. 16.

The company signed a $144 million contract for building a second ship with VT Halter Marine in Mississippi, Pasha said. Delivery is scheduled for the fall of 2013.

It also signed an option agreement for a third ship with a base price of $137 million with VT Halter Marine. The firm is negotiating with several sources for financing the second ship that would supplement Pasha’s MV Jean Anne, which was put into service in 2005.

The second ship will allow Pasha to provide weekly service between the West Coast and Hawaii, and more tailored transportation solutions for its clients, Pasha said.
