Scripps Clinic Medical Group has expanded its services in the Hillcrest area with the addition of Pacific Bariatric Surgical Group.
As part of the agreement completed Dec. 1, two Pacific Bariatric physicians – Dr. Eugene Rumsey Jr. and Dr. George Zorn III – will see patients in their existing location, which is being renamed Scripps Clinic Pacific Bariatric and General Surgery Program at 4060 Fourth Ave., Suite 330.
A third physician, Dr. William Fuller of the Scripps Clinic Del Mar, will support the practice.
Scripps Health said the doctors’ patients will experience no change in access to the physicians. The surgeons will continue to perform surgery at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego.
The clinic in central San Diego is accredited through the international Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program. Its surgeons are certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Weight-loss surgeries performed by the clinic’s physicians include Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, vertical sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass revisions and Lap-Band removals. Surgeons there also repair hernias, remove gallbladders and perform breast cancer, thyroid and colon surgeries.
Rumsey and Zorn join the more than 550 physicians located at 14 Scripps Clinic across San Diego County.
San Diego-based Scripps Health is a nonprofit health-care system treating more than 700,000 patients per year. It employs more than 15,000 people at five acute-care hospital campuses, 28 outpatient centers and clinics and other facilities in the region.
