Northrop Grumman Gets $8M Navy Contract Modification

The U.S. Navy awarded Northrop Grumman Corp. a one-year, $8 million contract modification, exercising an option for software sustainment services for one of its unmanned helicopter systems.

The MQ-8B is the smaller of the two Fire Scout helicopters, built using a Schweizer Aircraft helicopter as a starting point.

Some 90 percent of the work will be done in San Diego with the balance in Point Mugu.

The Naval Air Systems Command of Patuxent River, Md. awarded the contract, made public Jan. 12.

Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) is based in Virginia. Its Unmanned Systems Center of Excellence is in Rancho Bernardo.
