Two new locally owned restaurants recently opened along Via de la Valle in Solana Beach and neighboring Del Mar.
Operators said The Curious Fork, at 512 Via De La Valle, serves health-conscious food items and gourmet coffees, including Blue Bottle Coffee brand espresso drinks and beans for retail sale.
Led by founders and executive chefs Barbara McQuiston and Kai Peyrefitte, the Solana Beach eatery serves soups and sandwiches, salads, pizzas and pastries, and also has cooking classes and a curated culinary retail shop.
In Del Mar, Café Cantata is among the newest tenant additions at Flower Hill Promenade, 2720 Via De La Valle. It is the latest restaurant concept from Johan Engman, founder and owner of Fig Tree Café in Pacific Beach, Point Loma and Hillcrest.
Operators said Café Cantata serves home-style breakfast dishes, sandwiches and salads, with an array of beverages including coffee and fresh juices.
