Monarch School To Dedicate New Campus

Come April 24, the Monarch School, San Diego’s school for homeless kids, is set to open its new 2.2 acre campus in Barrio Logan just south of Petco Park. The usual panoply of elected officials are scheduled to attend, including Mayor Bob Filner and county Supervisor Greg Cox. The school, which boasts 150 students, could expand to 350 now that the staff has moved into the renovated 51,000-square-foot, two-story structure. Nat Bosa, owner and CEO of Bosa Development, and his wife, Flora, contributed $5 million to the school, which is named after the couple. The campus was financed mostly with private donations and lending help from Opus Bank, Clearinghouse CDFI, United Fund Advisors, and City National Bank … Influential monthly medical publication Becker’s Hospital Review names the UC San Diego Medical Center as well as the 397-bed Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside among the 100 top hospitals in the country, according to a news release … The San Diego Venture Group schedules its Movie Night on April 24 with a premiere showing of documentary film, “Venture Town, USA,” which tells the story of local entrepreneurs in their quest for startup success.
