San Diego medical device maker ResMed announced Monday that it will buy Inova Labs of Austin, Texas.
Inova makes oxygen therapy products for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a disease that decreases lung capacity. The company’s products are a good fit for ResMed, which makes products for sleep-disordered breathing such as sleep apnea.
ResMed’s current respiratory care offerings include patient interface products, the AirCurve 10 series of cloud-connected non-invasive ventilators, the Stellar series of non-invasive ventilators, and the flagship Astral series, a lightweight and non-invasive life support platform.
Buying Inova gives ResMed a range of products for those who need oxygen, including LifeChoice Activox, an oxygen concentrator with extended battery life.
Inova has roughly 100 employees, many of whom are in research and development. It’s not yet clear where they will work, in Austin or San Diego, according to ResMed CEO Mick Farrell.
Financial details were not disclosed.
