Matalon Architecture & Planning of San Diego designed a $9 million, 60-unit senior housing facility in Clovis, Calif. The three-story, 50,000-square-foot project was designed for Southern California Presbyterian Homes. Amenities include a large community room with a service kitchen, a library/computer room, a craft room, a game room, and a laundry/TV room. Southern California Presbyterian Homes, a Glendale, Calif.-based provider of housing and services for seniors, is well represented in San Diego County with senior living communities such as The White Sands of La Jolla, Redwood Terrace and Redwood Town Court.

Brookfield Homes has begun building six new homes in Phase 2 at Serenity, located within The Estates at StoneBridge just east of Scripps Ranch in San Diego. With trenching under way and framing beginning next month, Phase 2 will be completed and ready for move-ins by the end of the year. Serenity offers 63 luxury residences, featuring five or six bedrooms and 4.5 baths in three floor plans ranging from 4,040 to 4,759 square feet. Home sites range from 11,234 to 26,705 square feet and include three- or four-car garages.

Construction is nearing completion for the Smith Consulting Architects-designed ECR Corporate Center, which will accommodate the Tri-City Wellness Center and a medical office building, located respectively at 6250 and 6260 El Camino Real in Carlsbad. Smith Consulting Architects is responsible for the design of the two concrete tilt-up shell buildings, totaling 90,000 square feet. Construction costs are estimated to exceed $20 million. The project consists of a two-story, 63,000-square-foot building to house the Tri-City Wellness Center, and a two-story, 27,000-square-foot medical office building.

Johnson & Jennings General Contracting has completed construction for the new 2,575-square-foot San Diego National Bank branch office in Scripps Ranch located at 10020 Scripps Ranch Blvd. in Scripps Ranch. The project scope included both exterior and interior construction. Exterior construction included expansion of the building’s footprint to accommodate a new server and ATM room and the addition of a drive-up ATM/Night Drop station. Exterior work also included new concrete sidewalks, asphalt driveways, new landscaping and the San Diego National Bank-defining whale mural painted on an exterior wall. Interior work included demolition of existing offices, ceilings, flooring, HVAC ductwork, light fixtures and millwork. Interior construction included individual offices, light fixtures, HVAC distribution, a break room, storage room, ceiling system and custom millwork.

Grubb & Ellis’ Capital Markets Group arranged a $4.8 million permanent loan for Klawiter Executive Plaza, a multitenant office property in Cardiff by the Sea. Located at 1951-1953 San Elijo Ave., Klawiter Executive Plaza is a 15,000-square-foot, two-story building. It stands across from Cardiff Towne Center, the village-like, three-block downtown area of Cardiff by the Sea, which is near the Pacific Coast Highway and features ocean views. Gary Goss of Grubb & Ellis arranged the loan. A commercial bank provided the 10-year fixed rate loan with an interest rate of 6.5 percent. After a two-year interest-only period, the loan will amortize over 28-years. The owner’s name was not disclosed.
