Photographic Speed Traps?

Editor:

My thanks to Brad Graves for his April 23 story on those unconstitutional Lockheed Martin IMS traffic cam speed traps.

As someone who received a notice through the mail that I owed about $250 for one of these violations, months later I am still outraged. For all I know, I was proceeding safely through a green light and the camera malfunctioned.

When you receive a normal ticket, you can research the circumstances, find eyewitnesses, and if there are reasonable grounds for appeal, contest the fine.

I now drive with my sun visor down so I cannot be identified by this very questionable taxation trap. I haven’t gone so far as to remove my front license plate, but am seriously considering it.

Are these desirable unintended consequences?
