Killeen, Texas, has little in common with La Jolla, Calif.
As a matter of fact, they are poles apart on the annual Coldwell Banker Home Price Comparison Index, which was released Sept. 22.
La Jolla topped the charts at more than $1.8 million, while Killeen was the most affordable area at $131,328 no zeros after that one.
The index evaluated average home values for a single-family dwelling, measuring about 2,200 square feet with four bedrooms, two-and-one-half bathrooms, a family room, and a two-car garage.
According to the study, which examined 319 markets across the United States, a similar-sized home in Fresno is $389,458 the least expensive market in California.
“The HPCI reinforces what we have been saying all year the real estate market remains strong,” said Jim Gillespie, the president and chief executive officer of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corp.
