Joan Herman was recently named to the board of Carlsbad’s Ionis Pharmaceuticals.
Herman is the CEO of Herman and Associates, a management consulting firm for private equity firms investing in healthcare. Previously, she held executive roles at Anthem and Phoenix Life Insurance Company.
With the appointment, Ionis’ board now has 12 members.
The 30-year-old company is best known for the drug spinraza for spinal muscular atrophy. It has a large drug development pipeline as well.
