“First American Title Insurance Co. was ordered to pay $2.5 million to the state in a settlement of an enforcement action.
The state insurance commission also ordered that the company, which has offices in San Diego, to stop engaging in unlawful rebate activity. The settlement came out of charges that the company’s Los Angeles office paid money to real estate agencies and individual agents in exchange for title insurance referrals, said Insurance Commissioner Chuck Quackenbush.”
