Los Angeles-headquartered Mendocino Farms Sandwich Market recently opened its first San Diego County location in La Jolla, with another slated to open in spring 2017 in Carmel Valley.
A company statement said a new 3,757-square-foot location is now operating at 8795 Villa La Jolla Drive, selling artisan salads and handcrafted sandwiches from a chef-driven menu that changes seasonally. The La Jolla restaurant employs 65.
The company is planning more restaurants in the local region, with the next opening to take place at the Del Mar Highlands Town Center retail property in Carmel Valley.
The fast-casual Mendocino Farms was started in 2003 by husband and wife Mario Del Pero and Ellen Chen. The company currently operates 14 other locations in Los Angeles and Orange counties, with a total of 716 employees.
