Construction crews unearthed the tusk and skull of a mammoth thought to be about 500,000 years old at the future site of the new Thomas Jefferson School of Law, the law school said Feb. 4.
A new building at the East Village site, at 11th and Island avenues, was planned to replace the school’s current building in Old Town in time for the 2010-2011 academic year.
In the meantime, the school has been leasing its existing site in the 2100 block of San Diego Ave. Law school administrators said last year that their three-year lease terms may be extended for two additional six-month terms.
