ESET, the cybersecurity software company with offices in San Diego, said April 13 that it has hired Tony Anscombe to fill a new position within the company: global security evangelist and industry partnerships ambassador.
Anscombe is a regular speaker at global technology events including Mobile World Congress, CTIA and RSA. The latter is a large internet security conference. Anscombe is a recognized media commentator on issues surrounding privacy, security and child internet safety, as well as viruses and online threats.
He previously worked as senior security evangelist with Avast Software S.R.O., based in the Czech Republic, which acquired his former employer AVG Technologies N.V. in the fall for $1.3 billion.
“Having an established cybersecurity expert such as Tony representing ESET increases our ability to deliver the most useful security information to influential industry groups and media,” ESET Chief Technology Officer Juraj Malcho said in a prepared statement. “Combining Tony’s wealth of industry knowledge and considerable experience also adds depth and dimension to ESET’s public awareness programs and will strengthen our relationships with industry partners.”
