The San Diego Padres has promoted its general counsel and executive vice president of business administration to become chief operating officer.
Erik Greupner’s promotion was announced Nov. 7 by Executive Chairman Ron Fowler, who said Greupner’s “intelligence and sound judgement” have benefited the baseball team.

Before joining the Padres, Greupner was a corporate and transactional lawyer with the Los Angeles-based law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. He earned a law degree at the University of San Diego School of Law. Greupner worked in sales management at Goldman Sachs & Co. and Scudder Weisel Capital LLC before attending law school.
