Drivers, Warehouse Workers Walk Off Job

About 600 drivers and warehouse workers at Coca-Cola Enterprises in San Diego walked off the job July 1 in solidarity with Coca-Cola workers who went on strike in Oceanside over wage disparities, according to Teamsters Local 683, which represents the San Diego Coke employees.

Local 683 Secretary-Treasurer Shannon Silva said Coca-Cola Enterprises is treating its Oceanside Coke employees as second-class citizens.

“These workers deserve parity with other CCE employees in Orange, San Diego and Los Angeles County,” Silva said.

According to union officials, the strike may affect deliveries to more than 800 stores in Southern California.

Union officials are calling for a boycott of Coca-Cola products starting on July 3.
