CUSO, Sorrento’s New App Part of Cos.’ Push to Expand Tech Options for Clients

San Diego sister broker-dealers CUSO Financial Services LP and Sorrento Pacific Financial LLC have launched a new mobile application for use by the companies’ investment clients.

The app, called MyPortfolioView, provides customers a secure way to work with their financial advisors on portfolio management. The mobile program is integrated with the companies’ account management system and allows users to view their investment account history.

The broker-dealers said the program is intended especially for tech-savvy and younger customers “who are used to being able to do everything electronically and via mobile devices.” MyPortfolioView is available on Apple devices; the Android version is slated to come out “in early 2017,” the companies said.

It’s part of a broader roll-out of tech initiatives by the sister broker-dealers.

Bob Millington, executive vice president and chief information officer for CUSO Financial and Sorrento Pacific Financial, worked on the development of the new app with advisors and financial institutions.

“This is just the beginning,” Millington said. “Soon we will incorporate DocuSign digital signatures and, eventually, a Web services API that will provide full integration with a financial institution’s own mobile banking capabilities through a single sign-on.”
