San Diego County’s construction starts declined 37 percent from a year ago in the first nine months of 2015, to a value of approximately $2.2 billion, according to the latest monthly figures from Dodge Data & Analytics.
The value of building permits pulled for nonresidential projects declined 71 percent from 2014 in the January-to-September period, totaling $759.9 million. That was partially offset by a 66 percent increase in the value of residential projects, which came in at $1.44 billion.
Nonresidential projects include office, retail, hotel, industrial, educational, government and other nonhousing buildings. The residential category includes single-family and multifamily housing.
