County Unemployment Rate Remains 4.7% for March

San Diego’s unemployment rate has been flat at 4.7 percent from January to March, with a growing labor force keeping up with positive labor movement.

The county added 9,700 jobs from February to March, according to seasonally unadjusted data released April 15 by the California Employment Development Department. The largest gains came from accommodation and food services, which netted 2,300 jobs, and seasonal increases in local government education, which accounted for another 1,500 jobs. Construction was the only sector to decline last month, shedding 300 jobs.

California’s unadjusted unemployment rate was 5.6 percent.
