Class of 2014 Invited to Celebrate and Possibly … Get a Job

They’re billing it as a graduation party and job fair, but it sounds like an outdoor block party.

Event organizers say the gathering May 30 starting at 4 p.m. is “part celebration, part job fair for new graduates and local job seekers alike” and includes several sponsoring employers including Microsoft and Sony, as well as startups StayClassy, Black Swan Search and Pacific Arts Movement.

Tickets are free to all Class of 2014 graduates with proof of graduation, or participation in a social media digital picture campaign.

The event is being held at Silo Makers Quarter on 15th Street in the East Village.

“Typical job fairs suck for both candidates and employers,” said Louis Song of Proven, a local staffing firm. “They’re almost like speed dating or a forced blind date. This event is about getting the stuffiness out of the job fair and helping people to connect on a more casual, fun and engaging level.”
