Gina Champion-Cain, appointed to the Centre City Development Corp. board on June 29, is resigning due to a potential conflict of interest.
She is president and chief executive officer of American National Investments, a local real estate services company.
According to Derek Danziger, CCDC spokesman, her company might become involved with a possible Downtown condo conversion that eventually would go before the board.
“She elected to do this on her own, because of a potential of a conflict,” he said.
Champion-Cain currently sits on the University of San Diego’s Policy Advisory Board and the Downtown San Diego Partnership board of directors, and chairs the city of San Diego’s Housing Advisory and Appeals Board. She serves on the San Diego Advisory Council for Best Buddies, the San Diego Brain Tumor Foundation board of directors, and the San Diego Repertory Theatre’s board of trustees as chairwoman of the development committee.
“We are saddened to lose such a bright and talented board member,” said Hal Sadler, board chairman. “Her extensive development background and enthusiasm for Downtown has been a tremendous asset to us. We wish her the very best in all of her future endeavors.”
The CCDC oversees redevelopment in Downtown San Diego for the city.
