San Diego-based hospitality venue operator CH Projects plans to open a new Little Italy steakhouse called Born & Raised in late summer of 2016. The venue will debut at 1909 India St. after a $2.5 million renovation of the building that is currently underway.
A company statement said the two-story property formerly housed Nelson Photo Supplies. The new restaurant will showcase an in-house dry-aging program, with a sustainable “urban chef’s garden” and retail butcher shop on the premises.
The 8,000-square-foot Born & Raised will include two oversized bars and three dedicated dining spaces, including a downstairs patio and rooftop terrace. The midcentury-style venue is being designed by locally based Basile Studio, led by Paul Basile.
Operators said the restaurant’s name refers to the company’s San Diego roots. CH Projects was started in 2009 and has 11 current local restaurants, including Ironside Fish & Oyster, Craft & Commerce, and UnderBelly.
Born & Raised will be the fourth Little Italy venue for CH Projects, also known as Consortium Holdings, which is led by co-founders Arsalun Tafazoli and Nathan Stanton.
