Cal Western’s Community Law Project Awarded $5,000 Grant

The California Western School of Law’s efforts to provide free legal advice to low-income clients have been awarded a $5,000 grant from the American College of Bankruptcy.

The money for Cal Western’s Community Law Project will be earmarked for people seeking advice on bankruptcy-related issues. The CLP was founded 10 years ago and provides one-on-one weekly clinics at schools and churches in City Heights, Solana Beach, Lemon Grove and Downtown.

“Individuals across San Diego continue to struggle financially as they attempt to find their ways out from debilitating debt situations,” CLP director Dana Sisitsky said. “The support of the American College of Bankruptcy will help the Community Law Project assist many of these individuals as they start down the road to financial stability.”

The program is staffed by law students and practicing attorneys.
