Jessie Knight, executive vice president of external affairs for Sempra Energy, received the California Black Chamber of Commerce’s visionary award for “professional accomplishments and commitment to the community.”
“To me, being a visionary means demonstrating to others that you are committed to your ideals by effectively communicating them and achieving them,” said Knight, who received his award Aug. 18.
Knight left his position as president and chief executive officer for the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce for his current position with Sempra in early August. He served in presidential and CEO capacities with the San Diego chamber for seven years.
San Diego-based Sempra Energy is an energy services holding company and is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker SRE. Sempra closed Aug. 30 at $49.09, down 28 cents from the previous day’s close.
