A San Diego medical device manufacturer has been cleared to market its core product in the European Union.
The CE Mark designation Avacen Medical recently received allows it to sell its locally produced Avacen 100 device in the EU’s 28 member countries.
The Avacen 100 is a U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved, toaster-size machine providing temporary relief from pain associated with arthritis and muscle pain. It uses heat on the palms to enhance microcirculation.
Avacen was founded in 2009. More than one-fifth of its $1.5 million in annual sales come from abroad.
