Amy Wimer Named Associate Publisher of San Diego Business Journal

Amy Wimer, a veteran publishing executive from Chicago, has been named associate publisher and vice president of sales of the San Diego Business Journal, Publisher Armon Mills announced today.

Wimer, who will start Aug. 1, joins the Business Journal after having been publisher of Men’s Book – Chicago, a luxury lifestyle magazine for readers in the Chicago area. Prior to working there, she was Midwest director for Diversity Inc., a national business-to-business magazine that advanced diversity as a core corporate value.

It was the business-to-business aspect of the Business Journal that drew Wimer.

“I miss being in the B2B world. That was what was most appealing,” she said, noting that her mother owns a company that publishes a business publication in Des Moines, Iowa. “So it’s part of the family business to be in publishing.”

“I’m pleased to have Amy join us with her background in management and publishing,” Mills said. “She’s a tremendous addition to our San Diego Business Journal team.”

Wimer said her initial focus will be accompanying advertising sales staff on calls to meet with advertisers and “getting ingrained in the community.”

Wimer, who attended Iowa State University, also worked for Sun-Times Media Group and AT&T Broadband & Internet Services — both in Chicago.
