AMN Healthcare Services Inc., the San Diego provider of health-care staffing, reported 2013 fourth quarter net income of $8.4 million, up 18 percent from the same quarter of 2012.
For the full year, AMN reported net income of $33 million, up 102 percent from 2012’s net profit.
Revenue for the fourth quarter was $249 million, flat from last year’s fourth quarter. Revenue for the full year was $1 billion, up 6 percent from 2012 total revenue.
CEO Susan Salka said she is optimistic about the company’s prospects this year. “Despite the current softer hospital census, demand for health-care services is generally anticipated to expand as the impact of the Affordable Care Act unfolds,” Salka said.
The company’s gross margins for 2013 increased to 29.4 percent from 28.3 percent in the prior year.
AMN said it expects first quarter revenue to finish in a range of $244 million to $248 million, with gross margins between 30 to 30.5 percent.
