San Diego-based AMN Healthcare, the largest health care staffing company in the nation, has partnered with National University to build educational programs to better prepare clinical professionals for the field.
“Healthcare providers facing growing shortages of clinicians now have customized education and training programs to help build the specific workforce they need,” said Susan Salka, president and CEO of AMN Healthcare. “Our partnership brings together a unique combination of health care workforce and education expertise that clients can employ to train existing staff or prepare new graduates to meet the rapidly growing demand for patient care.”
The nation’s health care industry is suffering from shortages of many types of health care professionals, a challenge that is expected to worsen over the next decade. Many health care providers are identifying a greater need for specialty training to ensure that recent graduates as well as current employees are fully prepared to meet immediate workplace needs.
National University, the second-largest private nonprofit university in California, will use its expertise in developing curriculum for online learning to build modular training programs for AMN.
The partnership can customize learning programs for hospitals, health systems or other healthcare enterprises, such as home health agencies and clinics, so they can build a workforce that will support their particular needs.
