Amazon Adds Beer and Wine to Local Delivery Offerings

Amazon Inc. has extended its Prime Now services in San Diego to include one-hour delivery of beer, wine and spirits, the Seattle-based company announced.

An Amazon statement said local orders for those items will be fulfilled by retailer Keg N Bottle. The new offering is an extension of Amazon’s Prime Now delivery services launched in San Diego in November, for items including groceries, baked goods and prepared meals.

Officials said Prime Now is available in the local market from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. For the company’s Prime members, two-hour delivery is free and one-hour delivery is available for $7.99.

Current local food sellers in the Amazon program include Sprouts Farmers Market, Bristol Farms, Northgate Gonzalez Markets and Sprinkles Cupcakes.

In 2014, Amazon began delivering items to select San Diego neighborhoods as part of its AmazonFresh service, with its trucks making same-day and next-day deliveries of groceries and specialty items from locally based stores and food purveyors.
