The Active Network Inc., a San Diego-based software developer targeting healthy lifestyles, said Aug. 16 that it is acquiring InfoSpherix Inc. in a $17 million cash deal.
InfoSpherix operates camping and park reservation services. Active Network felt this is a logical expansion because of the active mission of the company. Earlier in the year, Active acquired Thriva, a camping payment processing company, for an undisclosed amount.
With the addition of InfoSpherix’s 320 employees, Active Network will have more than 1,000 employees.
“The InfoSpherix acquisition is significant to the Active Network for a number of reasons,” said Matt Landa, president of the Active Network, in an e-mailed statement. “We are not only adding the leading camping reservations company to our portfolio, but also a world-class call center, an East Coast data center and an experienced and talented team.
“Additionally, the InfoSpherix customer base consists of multiple state and federal government agencies, all of which can benefit greatly from the use of additional Active technology solutions.”
