$50M Shipboard Security Deal for Titan

Titan Corp. has received a five-year, $49.9 million contract to install security systems aboard Navy, Coast Guard and Military Sealift Command ships.

Titan, a San Diego defense contractor, did not specify what kind of technology it was installing. In a statement, the company said the systems “will improve each ship’s ability to detect and deter intrusion while in U.S. and foreign ports.”

The contract also involves logistics and training. It was awarded by the Naval Surface Warfare Center of Crane, Ind.

Titan trades on the New York Stock Exchange as TTN. Its stock closed Feb. 16 at $17.24.
