SeaPort Airlines Starting San Diego-Burbank Flights in October

SeaPort Airlines Inc. plans to begin new nonstop flights between San Diego International and Burbank Bob Hope Airport on Oct. 1.

The Portland, Oregon-based carrier will initially offer four round-trip flights on weekdays, one round trip on Saturday, and two round trips on Sunday, officials of the airline and San Diego International said in a statement.

All flights will use SeaPort’s Cessna 208 Caravan aircraft, with each trip scheduled to take approximately 65 minutes. Fare, scheduling and other information is at SeaPortAirlines.com.

The airline launched Southern California services about a year ago, and has since received requests to increase the frequency of affordable commuter flights between markets such as San Diego and Los Angeles, SeaPort President Rob McKinney said.

Officials said flights on the Burbank-San Diego route will be timed to allow for connections with SeaPort’s proposed new service between San Diego and San Felipe, in the Mexican state of Baja California. Subject to necessary approvals from the U.S. and Mexican governments, SeaPort plans to begin offering four weekly round-trip flights on that route on or around Nov. 1.

SeaPort has an interline ticketing and baggage agreement with Alaska Airlines, with plans to announce a similar agreement with another U.S. carrier soon. It is working to establish similar arrangements with other U.S. and international carriers, airline officials said.
