JSX, the Dallas, Texas-based hop-on jet service company, is entering the San Diego market.
On April 9, JSX will begin its San Diego to Las Vegas service, with flights operating twice daily on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday and once daily on Saturday. Fares start at $99/one-way and include at least two checked bags, cocktails and snacks, said Randy McKinney, chief operating officer. The Embraer 135 and Embraer 145 aircraft hold up to 30 people, he said, which not only provides added legroom and overall comfort but is also conducive to social distancing amid COVID-19.
Expanding its jet service to San Diego was a natural fit for JSX, said McKinney, primarily because of location and population. As a result of the strategic growth plan, JSX is expected to continue growing revenue by 30% year-over-year.
Customer Base
“San Diego fits geographically for us,” said McKinney, adding that JSX was founded in 2017 and has roughly 450 employees. “Southern California is where JSX got started, in Burbank and Orange County. So, we have a tremendous customer base there already. Obviously, there are over 3 million people in the greater San Diego area – it is a great city with a great population base.”
Added Alex Wilcox, CEO: “As travel restrictions diminish, travelers are seeking safe and efficient point-to-point travel options for both business and leisure. JSX’s distinctive form of flying allows customers to avoid the hassles and headaches associated with congested airports, irksome middle seats and long TSA lines. Additionally, as more states and counties continue to relax travel restrictions, we are seeing a significant uptick in customer confidence that fuels a growing demand for more flights to be added to our network, especially for the leisure travel segment this spring and heading into the summer months.”
To Wilcox’s point, JSX saw a 55% increase in new customer acquisition in 2020 over the last year. McKinney credits the increase, which he said began in Q3 of last year, to the company’s implementation of strict safety measures, like the installation of HEPA filtration systems in all 23 aircraft. Also, although all jets fit up to 50 people, JSX jets seat 30, which allows for more legroom and social distancing, he said. All staffers and flyers are required to use facial covers.
Avoid Crowds
The way JSX works is flyers can book their flights on JSX.com, show up to the private terminal at San Diego International Airport 20 minutes before the flight, avoiding crowds and lines.
