Allegiant Begins Flights Between San Diego and El Paso

Las Vegas-based discount airline Allegiant has launched its previously announced new nonstop service between San Diego International and El Paso, Texas.

A company statement said the service began May 6 with introductory one-way fares starting at $39. The service will operate twice weekly, with scheduling and other details at Allegiant.com.

Thella Bowens, president and CEO of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, said the new flight will create “much-needed capacity” for business and tourism travel between the two cities. More than 40,000 passengers currently fly annually between San Diego and El Paso, and Allegiant projects its new service will bring nearly 35,000 additional visitors to the San Diego region.

Allegiant previously initiated routes to San Diego from Stockton and Bellingham, Wash. The company currently operates in more than 100 cities nationwide.
