San Diego City Council has appointed Marilyn Hannes to the San Diego Convention Center Corporation’s board of directors.
Hannes, vice president of marketing for SeaWorld San Diego and SeaWorld’s Aquatica waterpark in Chula Vista, will join the seven-member board that sets policy for the public benefit corporation, center operators said.
The corporation was created by the city of San Diego to exclusively manage and operate the 2.6 million-square-foot downtown waterfront facility.
Hannes is responsible for sales and marketing for the local theme parks and also oversees Pacific Rim and Mexico marketing efforts for SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, which is part of Florida-based SeaWorld Entertainment Inc.
She is also currently a regional ambassador for the California Travel Association and serves on leadership committees of Visit California, the state’s tourism agency. Hannes is also the current board chair for the National Council of Attractions, with the U.S. Travel Association.
Hannes has also served on committees of the San Diego Tourism Authority, and currently serves on an advisory task force of the San Diego Tourism Marketing District.
