Roxana Velasquez
Executive Director, The San Diego Museum Of Art
SD 500 recap: Roxana Velasquez in 2010 became the first woman to be executive director of the museum. In 2018, the exhibit “Modern Masters from Latin America” drew the most visitors in a decade, and the museum also acquired masterworks by Lucas Cranach the Younger and John Singer Sargent. Prior to her arrival at SDMA, she directed world-class collections at national museums in Mexico City. She’s a member of multiple boards, including Association of Art Museum Directors, International Council of Museums, the San Diego Tourism Authority. She also a trustee of the Balboa Park Cultural Partnership.
