Jamul Casino to Reopen May 18

After closing on March 20 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jamul Casino will have a soft reopening on May 18 for its Amber and Above Sweetwater Rewards Club VIP guests and will open to the general public on May 21. Social distancing and increased cleaning, among other practices, will be implemented in order to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

“This has been an unprecedented season of uncertainty, and we understand it may take time for some guests to be ready to come back,” said Mary Cheeks, president and general manager of Jamul Casino. “I can assure you that we are doing everything in our power to ensure that Jamul Casino is a safe and fun environment when guests return.”

A few of the additional plans as part of the reopening include thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting all surfaces and high touch areas; a special “clean team” established to focus on continuously cleaning; temperature screening using thermal cameras of team members and guests before they enter the casino (anyone with temperature of 100 degrees or higher will not be allowed on the premises; required face coverings on all; 150 hand sanitizer stations placed throughout the casino; and plexiglass dividers for cashiers and quick serve dining counters.

Phase One of the reopening will not include shuttle or valet services, entertainment like DJs or live bands, buffets or promotions.
