Port District Hosts Workshops on Lane Field Hotel Project

The Port of San Diego has scheduled two public workshops to gather feedback on designs for the proposed Lane Field North hotel project in downtown San Diego.

They are planned for June 28 and July 12, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the training room of the Port of San Diego Administration Building, 3165 Pacific Highway in San Diego.

The development is planned for the northern portion of the former Lane Field, at Pacific Highway and West Broadway. Development firm Lane Field San Diego Developers LLC will provide an overview of the conceptual design, and workshops will be part of an ongoing effort by port officials to gather community feedback, according to a June 19 port district statement.

Port staff will present input from the workshops at an upcoming meeting of the Board of Port Commissioners.

Locally based Lane Field San Diego Developers LLC has said it is aiming to start construction in early 2013 on the first phase of the 400-room hotel project, comprised of a 250-room Hilton Garden Inn and a 150-room Hilton Homewood Suites. The first phase cost is estimated at $110 million, developers said.
